We offer 5 rod diameters in steel and stainless steel: 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1 1/4", and 1 1/2".
The most popular rod diameters are 3/4", 1", and 1 1/4". 1" diameter is most common, while 3/4" diameter offers a slimmer look and 1 1/4" diameter offers a stronger look. The rod does not look "big" until 1 1/2" diameter. 1/2" diameter should only be used for short spans and very lightweight panels, such as in the case of cafe curtains.
Selection considerations may include: 1) total rod length (each rod diameter has a maximum suggested span between brackets which can dictate the number of brackets needed), 2) ceiling height (higher ceilings typically allow for larger diameter rods), 3) aesthetic preferences, and 4) preferred rod type. French returns are available in all rod diameters except 1/2". Finial selection can vary by rod diameter (this can be filtered for on the Finials page). Wall-to-Wall (Inside) Mount rods are available in all rod diameters.
